Hum App Reviews

Good start but needs backup options

This is an app idea that I’ve been waiting for someone to build… Very nice tool that is much better than the built-in voice recorder. However, like other reviewers have said it needs to have some kind of iCloud or Dropbox backup/sync because I don’t want to lose any ideas...

Hum for iPad?

Would love to sync with iCloud to my iPad. Thatll maybe also act as a backup as well?

Works great

Id love to be able to overdub tracks for songs with multiple parts

nice nice

hum is cool. runs smooth. recording option and the recordings play when you leave the app... YouTube doesnt even do that. would like to see more customization options like themes/colors/fonts. other than that I love using hum when writing music. peace. thank you BasedGod. stay positive

Off to a great start

Could be amazing with more features, but it does the trick for iSongWriting

MISSING KEY FEATURES

This app DESPERATELY NEEDS the option to send AND backup files to Dropbox or bitcasa AND the ability to access the files via iTunes is a must (via a zip with the audio files and a text file containing lyrics, ideas and key/tempo info). Feature wise, the app is missing the ability to record multiple ideas in one song idea. It kind of renders the app useless for the exploratory nature of songwriting. Brilliant concept, poor execution.

Great App

I love this app! I use it all the time. Thanks for all the updates!

Hum is gonna be #1

Definitely my favorite and most used app. Has so much potential to change the on the go songwriting. really friendly and easy to talk to team over at hum and they seem to be addressing all the areas that are lacking. Ive recorded 500+ demos this year with it. Would love to be able to mass save on Dropbox, be able to not lose a beat when opening different songs because the interface thinks im trying to record, record multiples on one idea, import a beat to record to as well when recording it turns off your iTunes. Cant wait for the future with hum on my songwriting took belt!

What a great app

I don’t write many reviews, but I love this app, and I hope it is a success. Like probably every songwriter over a certain age, I used to record all of my ideas using a portable cassette recorder. This app makes it incredibly fun and efficient to get your ideas down, including whatever tunings, keys, lyrics, and other details you want to remember. It’s not incredibly complex, and that’s what makes it great. It’s sleek and fast. I love it.

Wow. Just wow

Ive been using Hum from the jump, and can honestly say that this update is a game changer. With the horizontal support, and the streamlined interface everything on this app is wonderful. I wrote an entire project using this app, and I cannot imagine writing music without it now. The creators are super receptive to feedback, and answer back any comments, concerns, and feedback. The only reason I didnt give it that 5th star is because I still think that this app would benefit greatly from iCloud syncing, and a Today view widget for throwing quick ideas would really take it to the next level. Other than that by far this is the best song writing app on the App Store!

Great tool for songwriters

I really enjoy working in this app and the user interface is truly well done. It looks great now on iPhone 6. There are a couple key features that Im still waiting for such as the Dropbox syncing and multiple audio tracks for each song idea so as to able to record new parts and revisions without losing work or having to create a new Hum file. If it had those features, this app would be just about perfect, and when those features come, Ill enthusiastically go out of my way to give it 5 stars and review it whenever it updates just to help promote it. Even as it stands, its well worth the money and it beats using voice memos by a mile.

Falls short

As others have mentioned it needs 2 things desperately. One is better export options to Dropbox or the likes and second the ability to save more than one file into one project. Without it its just a voice recorder with the option to add a few more tags

Needs a folder feature

I would like this app to have the ability to make folders. My stuff is so unorganized and I hate that. Thank you for fixing this.

Only missing a few things

I love how pretty and simple this app is but feel a few things are missing. There is another app just called songwriter and it is extremely ugly (can barely use it because of this) but has these key features I would love to see. 1)Chord input (that changes keys if you want it to so you dont have to manually adjust each typed out chord) 2)synonym/rhyme feature when highlighting a word 3)and this isnt completely necessary but something cool is the ability to create separate song sections and arranging them. Also being able to record separate parts for the same song for ideas instead of just one audio track per song. Thanks guys! I love the other app as you can see but it has not been updated in over a year and with your design you already have it would clearly make this app the best in the songwriting department.

Great idea, needs work

I like the idea and I am excited to use the app but theres one major problem. You cannot continue recording on a song. Once you record something thats it. I usually build songs section by section and Id like to be able to continue where I left off, potentially with a marker to play from that point on. If that was implemented, this would be useful but for now its a little more tedious than the stock voice memos app.

Charge for a tuner?

I hope you dont continue down this path. Ill be looking for an alternative if you start charging for added features, specially the essential ones like Cloud syncing.

Super simple, super powerful songwriting app that gets better with every new release. Exactly what you need to capture those fragile ideas that would otherwise get forgotten.

Great tool

Amazing for keeping all your song sketches in one place. Its like moleskine++

Still no backup or sync option

Just a superficial update, and 99 cents more for a silly tuner. Also they still have not addressed this apps inability to attach multiple audio clips to a song idea.

Simply awesome

I love this songwriting app. It doesnt pretend to be anything other than what it is--which is what makes it so intuitive, easy and helpful. I highly recommend it.
